WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF CATAPHANT
Since turning 30 a few months ago and trying to elevate my entire life into a more mature space, I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a more holistic, intuitive online platform to sell my products, showcase some art + design, and put a few unfiltered thoughts on life & creativity out there for the curious to read. I’ve gone back and forth on the idea of blogging for a couple of years. On the one hand, there is so much thought and depth behind some of the work I do that I would love a chance to make the process known. On the other...I’m kind of an asshole and I don’t know if a blog in the wrong (my) hands is such a good idea. I’ve ran the idea past a few friends whose polite hesitation wasn’t the best sign to move forward, but we compromised on passing my posts through a few hands before publishing in order to “edit out the darkness.” Fine enough for me!
The truth is, aside from having a dark humor that doesn’t always translate well into writing, I’m really interested in sharing the ways in which myself and the artists around me move about life practically and creatively. In building a tailor made career for myself I’ve had to jump through many hurdles and scale a few mountains, both practical and personal. But I am one of many creative warriors out here just trying to get paid to do what we love, live art to the fullest, and stay true to our purposes. In this kind of career/lifestyle, there’s no clear path ahead for how to balance work, health, life, etc. I’ve learned so many things the hard way, I figured that if my hard-earned wisdom helps even one person do the damn thing and not destroy themselves in the process, then this bloggy blog will be a grand success.
Also, I should make this point, and it is of no offense to my lifestyle blogger friends because y’all make the world go round… but this is not a lifestyle blog. I am not a good cook, I have average make up skills, and my only goal in fashion is to create less work for myself in the morning. However, I am a creative, an entrepreneur, and a deep thinker/doer when it comes to the art of curating life. So, I were to come up with a term for what this is... I'd call it a "survival skills for the creative entrepreneur soul" blog. I'll be opening up a whole lot about my own processes, but all for the sake of being helpful to others who may be in similar boats. That said, if there's a certain topic or question you have about any particulars, feel free to comment below. That will give me topics to write about more consistently. That's all for now. <3<3<3<3
